Ask Robert

Membership

How it works.

A membership, not a course. It renews monthly, has no end date, and you can pause or switch groups whenever your level changes.

01

Register

Pick your group and start the monthly plan. Join any week of the year.

02

Join your classroom

A recurring Zoom invitation plus access to your group's members hub.

03

Show up weekly

90 minutes live with Robert — teaching, guided play, and questions.

04

Practice after

The recording and that week's training resources are added to your members hub, so you can keep working between sessions.

What you'll work on

Skills you'll build.

Sessions adapt to what each group needs. Over time, you'll develop the core chess skills below — along with the thinking process, practical decision-making, and psychology needed to put them together at the board.

01

Structured calculation

Find candidate moves, calculate efficiently, compare outcomes &
make better decisions.

02

Strategy

Read what the position is
asking for and pick a plan
you can explain.

03

Tactics

Recognise the patterns that
win material — faster, and
more often.

04

Openings

Principles first, so you’re
never lost on move eight.

05

Endgames

Technique that converts the
advantage you worked for.

06

Game analysis

Review your own games and find the mistake that actually mattered.

Why Group Coaching

Why Group Coaching Is Different

You learn from other people’s games

Every week you watch players at your level get corrected in real time. The lesson sticks, because you were about to play the same move.

Every session is recorded

Miss a week, or want to rewatch the moment something clicked? The recording and that week’s resources are waiting in your hub.

A weekly slot you actually keep

Same time, same group, every week. A steady 90 minutes does more for your chess than occasional bursts of studying alone.

Move up when you’re ready

Outgrown your group? Switch plans and your hub access moves with you — no application, no waiting for a new term.

The glue

What connects it all.

Most training stops at the skills. The bigger jump comes from the habits that hold them together — and that's a large part of how Robert coaches.

Thinking process

A repeatable way to approach any position.

Time management

Spending your clock where the game is decided.

Psychology

Staying steady after a mistake, and after a win.

Practical decision-making

Choosing well when you can’t calculate everything.

Applying ideas in real games

Turning what you studied into moves you actually play.

Questions

Group details.

Anything else, ask directly — Robert reads every message.

  • Use the recommendation as a starting point, not a rule — Foundations for roughly 0–700 Rapid, Development for 700–1400, Mastery for 1400+. If you’re between two, or don’t play rated games at all, message Robert and he’ll tell you which group fits how you actually play.

  • Yes. Switch to that group’s plan whenever you’re ready and your members hub access moves with you. There’s no application and no waiting for a new term — tell Robert and change the plan.

  • Nothing is lost. Every session is recorded and posted to your group’s hub with the same resources the live group received, so you can catch up before the next week.

  • Always, at no extra cost. Recordings stay in your hub for as long as your membership is active, so you can rewatch any session — not just the ones you missed.

  • Groups stay small enough that everyone gets airtime — usually 6 to 10 students. If a group fills up, Robert opens a second session time rather than crowding it.

  • No. It’s a monthly membership with no end date — continue as long as it’s helping, and cancel from your account when it isn’t.
